The trend of collective marriages will help in controlling social evils:Khalil Tahir Sandhu

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Minorities Affairs and Human Rights Khalil Tahir Sandhu has said that the trend of collective marriages in the country will help control social evils.

He was addressing a collective marriages ceremony arranged by Pakistan Hindu Council at YMCA Club, Karachi. The Minister congratulated the newly married couples and also appreciated the welfare activities of the Hindu Council.

Khalil Tahir Sandhu on behalf of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif also presented a cheque for rupees 10 lakh to the Patron-in-Chief of the council Dr. Ramesh Kumar. Prominent social personality Abdul Sattar Edhi, Chairman  Evacuee Trust Board Sidique-al-Farooq, Managing Director Pakistan Bait ul Mal Barrister Abid Waheed Sheikh, President Hindu Council Chela Ram besides representatives of various social welfare organizations were present on the occasion.

Dr. Ramesh Kumar informed that 60 couples were being wed under the program of collective marriages and they belong to district Tharparkar of Sindh. A dowry of Rs. 75 thousand was also being given to each bride.
