EDOs Education to strictly implement SOPs for ensuring security arrangements: Rana Mashhood

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan has directed EDOs Education of the Province to strictly implement SOPs laid down for ensuring security arrangements of all educational institutions. Addressing a conference of EDOs Education of the province, the Minister said that Pakistan is in a state of war against terrorism.

He said that all out protective measures are necessary for saving educational institutions of the province from becoming an easy target for terrorists. He directed to ensure rising of boundary walls of educational institutions to fixed height and placing of barbed wires.  He said that no leniency should be shown in  installation of CCTV cameras, metal detectors and appointment of security guards in the schools.

The Minister directed EDOs to ensure arrangements of sweeping in the premises of schools and keeping a watchful eye on the surrounding areas. He said that the principle of using only one gate for movement in educational institutions should be strictly implemented and a movement registered should be placed at the gate for writing the particulars of the visitors.

He directed that important numbers should also be displayed in the principal office, classrooms and staff rooms. He said that proper arrangements are necessary for the protection of potable water in educational institutions. He said that 1122, civil defense and other agencies should carry out imaginary exercises for the protection of students, teachers and local population so that awareness could be created among the people regarding corrective measures.

Rana Mashhood said that mobile vans of police department specified for schools should regularly patrol schools and their surrounding and in case of need, special branch officials should reach for security clearance.

He directed EDOs to make arrangements of displaying charts and banners for promoting accommodation, mutual respect, tolerance, forbearance and interfaith harmony in educational institutions so that students studying  in the institutions should supplement efforts of the government for eliminating extremism, terrorism, non-tolerance and sectarianism.
