Mandi Bahauddin(Sher Gondal): Ex-servicemen held a rally here at press club on Friday to protest against government for not establishing District Armed Forces Board in their district. Ex-servicemen and Shaheeds widows also participated in the rally.
Participants were carrying banners with their demands that included implementation of “one rank one pension”. Addressing the rally President Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Society (PESS) Tehsil Mandi SM Bashir said Mandi Bahauddin was upgraded as district in 1993.
Other all departments of government have been established and functioning. He said more than thirty thousand ex-servicemen including their widows reside in this district. They are dependent for their welfare matters on DASB Gujrat. He said on their demand DCO very kindly provided two rooms for setting up DASB camp office. Adjutant General and Pakistan Armed Services Board (PASB), Defense Ministry Rawalpindi was also requested for posting Deputy Director DASB for Mandi Bahauddin.
Considering plight of ex-servicemen, PASB ordered Deputy Director DASB Gujrat to visit Camp Office Mandi Bahauddin on every Friday to deal with ex-servicemen matters relating to pension and other subjects. He said keeping in view strength of ex-servicemen this adhoc arrangement is not sufficient.
He urged COAS and PASB to sanction setting up separate DASB in this district to facilitate ex-servicemen of the area to get their problems solved. He also demanded that implementation of “one rank one pension” to save pensioners from financial crises.
