Lahore: The United Business Group (UBG) of FPCCI on Tuesday lauded mission of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and COAS Gen. Raheel aimed at mediation between Saudi Arabia and Iran. Both countries should accept Pakistan’s proposal to resolve all issues through negotiations as it will save the region from further destabilization, it said.
Speaking at a reception Chairman UBG Iftikhar Ali Malik and Patron-in-Chief SM Muneer said that tensions can result in a new arms race in the region which will eat up resources allocated for the social sector. They said that all the Muslims across the globe were uneasy over the row between brotherly countries during which Pakistan’s steps to build confidence is laudable.
Iran-US tensions are coming to an end due to negotiation therefore all other disputes should also be resolved through talks, they demanded.
Iftikhar Malik and SM Muneer also lauded Finance Minister Ishaq Dar for his performance saying that GDP growth is at highest in the last seven years, developmental allocations have been doubled while social safety net expanses have been tripled.
They said that UBG is sweeping FPCCI elections since last two years but the rejected elements are not ready to accept their defeat. Businessman Panel bagged only one vote in the recent election and it would be completely wiped out in the next.
At the occasion, President FPCCI Abdul Rauf Alam said that he will try to bring government and business community closer and demand consultation before critical decision. He said that tax administration should collect tax but not insult taxpayers which is not acceptable. Involving taxpayers in fake cases is not tolerable, he warned.
