Lahore: Punjab Kisan Relief Package powered by the Punjab IT Board (PITB) has become the most efficacious project that had transparently distributed more than PKR 22.00 billion among 1,009,383 farmers of 33 districts across Punjab within just 2 months. It was stated by the Chairman PITB Dr. Umar Saif while addressing a meeting held at Arfa Software Technology Park on Monday.
“This is a record of its own kind marking that there has been no such program introduced by any other government that involves a large percentage beneficiaries acquiring an amount disbursed in a short span of time as the Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that 341 billion rupees would be given to the loss bearing growers under this program.” He added.
Dr. Umar Saif said that under manual paper work, the huge task could take lot of time and the impoverished farmers would have to wait long to get the assistance. Moreover the paper work has many flaws particularly apprehended delays and embezzlements that could deprive a number of destitute of their right. But the computerized process left little space for such hassles.
He said “The process is made very easy as verification of the target farmers is made through special NADRA counters and the amount of assistance is made through Punjab or National Bank counters. All the process is completed through a dashboard centered at the PITB.”
He told that the PITB was also assisting Punjab Government by verifying the flood affected persons, assessing their damages and paying the compensation amounts in an efficient and transparent manner since last years.”
