Lahore: Punjab Governor/Chancellor University of Education Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana said that the progress and development of Pakistan is only associated with the education especially the key role of teachers in promoting quality education cannot be neglected at any cost. To get education is the basic right of every human being and Government of Pakistan is very keen in providing a cheap and quality education to every citizen.
He was addressing University of Education’s 4th Convocation at Expo Center Johar Town, Lahore here on Monday. Chairman HEC Punjab Dr Nizam-ud-Din, UoE Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam, Controller Examinations Dr. Ashiq Hussain Dogar, Registrar Dr. Manzoom Akhter, Principals of Campuses, Directors of Divisions, members of Syndicate and Academic Council, VC GCU Prof. Dr. Hasan Amir Shah, Regional Director AIOU Rasool Bakhsh Behram, Ex-VC’s of Education University Dr. Faiz-ul-Hasan and GCU Dr. Khaleeq-ur-Rehman, renowned educationist and columnist Prof. Naeem Masood, eminent educationists, faculty members and a large number of degree holder students and their parents were present at occasion.
Addressing the ceremony, Punjab Governor/Chancellor University of Education Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana said that our education must be knowledge based and the education without knowledge was meaningless. To provide better education and proper job opportunities to students is the main responsibility of Government so that they could prepare themselves for future challenges. The multi-dimensional programs and other prosperous schemes like Pak China Economic Corridor are continuing in well manner under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Mian M. Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Mian M. Shahbaz Sharif. He advised the students to perform an active role based on their education and experience for the development and progress of Pakistan.
Punjab Governor/Chancellor University of Education Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana also appealed to owners and administration of private educational institutions to provide better opportunities of higher education to poor students as it’s our moral duty.He said that it was a matter of honor for him to attend the convocation of University of education and he was thankful to UoE VC Prof. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam. He advised the students to help a common man and poor segments of the society.
Vice Chancellor University of Education Prof. Dr.Rauf-i-Azam gave a detailed brief about university, academic activities, prominent statistics and other related matters. He thanked the Punjab Governor/Chancellor University of Education Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana to spare his precious time for convocation.
In University of Education’s 4th Convocation, 44 PhD, 153 MPhil and 112 gold medals and merit certificates were distributed among students. As many as 20 PhD in Education, 14 in Urdu, 02 in Economics and Psychology and one in each subject of English, History, Commerce, Political Science, Punjabi and Chemistry were conferred. It is worth mentioning here that University of Education consists of 10 Campuses, 03 Divisions and 44 affiliated Colleges all over the Punjab.
The University has offered 41 degree programs including Bachelor, Post Graduate Diploma, BS Honours, Master and MS/M.Phil and PhD programs. At present 21 thousand students are on the roll of UE Campuses and Divisions while 9 thousand students are studying at UE Affiliated Colleges all over Punjab.
