Deterrent punishment will be awarded to the culprits involved in gang rape

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Rana Sanaullah Khan has said that deterrent punishment will be awarded to the culprits involved in gang rape of a girl student in Lahore and cutting of hand of a youth in Sheikhupura irrespective of any discrimination.

He said that presenting accused before the court is the responsibility of the government while it is up to the court to award punishment to them. He said that a committee has been constituted under the supervision of DIG Investigation for investigating the case of gang rape of girl student.

He was addressing a press conference at 90-Shahra-e-Quaid-e-Azam, here today. Spokesman Punjab government Zaeem Qadri, DIG Operation Dr. Haider Ashraf and DPO Hafizabad were also present on the occasion.

Rana Sanaullah said that out of eight, seven accused of gang rape of a girl have been arrested while an absconder accused will be apprehended within deadline. He said that after report of forensic lab, the charge-sheet will be issued.

Rana Sanaullah said that three accused identified by affected person Akram in Hafizabad incident have been arrested and are being interrogated.
