Lahore: Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs and Human Rights, Khalil Tahir Sandhu has said that sharing Christmas joys with all is the real spirit of this festival.
He was addressing a function for giving interest free loans to 380 deserving and destitute persons under Chief Minister’s self-employment scheme through Akuwat at Saint Anthony Church, here today.
Bishop of Lahore Sebastian Shaw, Dr. Amjad Saqib, Javed Waseem and others were also present on the occasion. Dr. Amjad Saqib threw light in detail the programme of provision of interest free loans through Akhuwat.
Khalil Tahir Sandhu appreciated provision of interest free loans of Rs. 80 lakh to deserving persons under self-employment scheme under the aegis of Akhuwat for service to the humanity. He said that these loans are being provided to the deserving persons without any discrimination and with the help of these loans, 380 families will be able to earn their livelihood.
He said that being Pakistanis we will have to discharge our duties for strengthening economy of the country. He also extended congratulation of Eid Milad-un-Nabi and Christmas and also cut cakes.
Later, shields were presented to Provincial Minister and other participants on behalf of Akhuwat. The Minister attended a function regarding Christmas at Cathedral Church Mall Road and stressed upon following the teachings of Jesus Christ.
