Lahore: A commemorative ceremony and walk was organized at UET, Lahore to salute the martyrs of APS Peshawar and to show solidarity with the families of martyrs. Provincial Minister for Finance, Dr. Ayesha Ghaus Pasha was the Chief Guest for the ceremony. Rizwan Goraya, Miss Hadiya Akbar, UET Synide Hub and Abdullah Imran and Dr. Tanveer Qasim Public Relations Officer expressed condolences for martyrs of Peshawar incident.
Provincial Minister for Finance, Dr. Ayesha Ghaus Pasha speaking on the occasion said that the blood of the martyrs would not go waste and collective efforts would be made for the maintenance of peace and harmony in the country. She said that we should do what Muhammad Ali Jinnah wanted in Pakistan. She said that we must know who we are and what the purpose of the creation of Pakistan is?
Dr. Ayesha Ghaus Pasha has said that the sacrifice of martyrs of Peshawar has united the entire nation against terrorism, extremism, sectarianism and intolerance. She said that every child of the nation is standing with the innocent martyrs of Army Public School Peshawar and they are raising slogan that they have to establish peace and make Pakistan a developed country and promote education. She said that this was the mission started by the innocent children of Peshawar who were killed.
She emphasized that what we need is a change of mindset. She said that our focus should be on education and through education we will eliminate terrorism for the nip.
The Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid in his welcome address thanked the Chief Guest for sparing her valuable time to attend this ceremony and highlighted the role of Finance department in support of quality education. All Deans of faculties, Chairpersons, Directors, faculty members and a large number of students participated in the walk and ceremony.
