Lahore: Director General Wildlife & Parks Punjab Khalid Ayaz Khan has said that the department has recovered a fine of more than one crore 79 lakhs rupees during current year from the persons involved in illegal hunting and keeping wildlife without license.
He was talking to media-men at his office, here today. Khalid Ayaz Khan said that 4047 cases were registered during the year 2015 and the courts imposed a fine of Rs. 55 lakh 47 thousand in 1834 cases while a sum of Rs. one crore 23 lakh and 59 thousand was recovered as compensation by the department through 1914 challans.
Khalid Ayaz Khan told that there are 299 cases pending in the courts while 8443 cases are under hearing. He said that illegal hunting would not be tolerated and zero- tolerance policy has been adopted in this regard.
He said that all Wildlife Officers have been directed to follow the cases with full preparation so that it could be decided at the earliest and action could be taken against those involved in illegal hunting.
