A delegation of Pakistan National Heart Association visits Mandi Bahauddin

A delegation of Pakistan National Heart Association visits Mandi BahauddinMandi Bahauddin (Sher Gondal) : A delegation of Pakistan National Heart Association led by its Chairman Major General (retired) Masud Ur Rehman Kiani visited Mandi Bahauddin and held a seminar in District Bar Room on heart diseases and causes of heart attack and other diseases related to heart and choking.

The delegation besides the chairman included Dr. Shahnaz, Squadron Leader (retired) Ghulam Abbas, PANAH secretary Mr. Ghumman and other doctors and members of PANAH executive body. After recitation of Holy Quran the Chairman delivered lecture covering importance of dissemination of information relating to heart diseases and their causes of spread.

The lecture also covered precautionary measures for averting such diseases. He said when he was student there were very limited cases of heart attack but with modernization of life heart attack cases have increased. He said now the situation has turned so alarming that after every six minute a person dies of heart attack.A delegation of Pakistan National Heart Association visits Mandi Bahauddin

He said mostly the person dying of heart attack are in age bracket of 45 to 60 years. These persons are a source of income for their families and when they die their families are left in miserable condition. He said if precautions are observed such untimely deaths could be minimized to great extent.

He informed participants of the seminar that main objective of PANAH was to disseminate information about spread of Heart disease, its causative and risk factors, their control and modification so as to prevent, minimize and control the miseries and fatalities due to angina, heart failure and heart attack in the country.

Dr. Shahnaz in her lecture described many practical steps and procedures to give first medical aid when a person suffered heart attack and choking. She conducted practical demonstrations of restoring the condition of a patient suffering heart attack.

It is worth mentioning that this seminar was held with the efforts of a prominent social worker of the area Col (retired) Iniat Mirza.

Earlier, President DBA Iqbal Gondal, Secretary Ikram Gondal and other senior advocates welcomed the delegation and appreciated their efforts to create awareness about heart diseases and measures to control them.
