Imran Khan’s claim of planting 100 million trees is just a lie: Pervaiz Rashid

Pervaiz RasheedLahore: Minister for Information,Broadcasting and National Heritage Pervaiz Rashid on Thursday said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan’s statement of planting 100 million trees was just
an addition to his false claims.

In a statement issued here, Pervaiz Rashid said, that the PTI leader had not given any detail about the immense workforce required for the job, mode of purchase and transportation of such a huge number of saplings. “When did this gigantic task took place?” the minister questioned.

Either there was no existence of these trees or the resources of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government were being plundered under the garb of 100 million trees,” he added.Urging the independent media persons to verify Imran Khan’s tall claims, the minister said, Imran was harping the claim of 100 million trees, but no one had yet witnessed the process of purchase, transportation and plantation of such a huge number of plants.

He said even media which keeps the public updated all the time, had not yet aired, or published any news on this process.
Pervaiz Rashid asked Imran Khan to arrange a visit of parliamentarians, media representatives
and civil society to the plantation site.

The minister also asked Imran Khan to present before the people source of purchase of 100 million saplings, its cost as well as the expenditure incurred on the plantation process. He said the planation seemed to have been carried out so secretly that even the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were
unaware about it. No resident of the area was yet available to verify Imran’s claim, therefore the
circumstances and evidences were negating the existence of the magical project.

The minister said that in order to verify his claim, the PTI chief should also release the footage and
pictures of the plantation project, besides pointing out the exact location as 100 million plants
required around 500 million square feet of land.
