Lahore: Secretary General, Jamaat e Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has said that the economic policy of the government was a complete failure and the IMF dictation as also the burden of loans was increasing.
In a statement here on Tuesday, he said that the additional taxes imposed by the Federal Finance Minister would cause a steep rise in price spiral, unemployment and inflation and the resultant economic crisis would shatter the dreams and claims of development and stability in the country.
The JI Secretary General expressed deep grief over the attack on the Military Police personnel in Karachi resulting in martyrdom of two of them. He said that an atmosphere of fear and harassment was being created in Karachi ahead of the local bodies polls on December 5. He said that the polling must be held under the supervision of the army and Rangers to ensure impartial and transparent elections, and added that the MQM’s defeat in the LB elections was a writing on the wall. .
Commenting on the Nawaz-Modi brief meeting in Paris, Liaqat Baloch said it was an important meeting and had several objectives. He said the Indian Premier Modi was on a weak wicket at present. However, he said that Pakistan should not show any weakness at this stage and a national policy based on consensus should be devised on talks and relations with India. He said that the Kashmiris should not be given a weak or negative message at this critical juncture.
