Lahore: Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab on Health Kh. Salman Rafique has said that under Chief Minister’s Health Reforms Programme, up-gradation and construction of government hospitals at district level is continuing and DHQ hospital Vehari has been expanded from 120 bed to 300 bed. Moreover, Tehsil Headquarters Hospitals of Burewala and Melsi are also being up-graded, besides setting up cardiac units.
He said this, while presiding over a meeting in Civil Secretariat to review the construction and development work of government hospitals of district Vehari, today.
Member National Assembly Begum Tehmina Daultana, MPA Mian Irfan Daultana, DCO Vehari Nasir Hotiyana, Additional Secretary Development Mahmood Hassan, EDO Health Dr. Afzal Bashir, MS DHQ Hospital Dr. Shahid Saleem were also present.
The meeting reviewed the pace of development work of government hospitals in the districts. The meeting was told that DHQ Hospital has been expanded and up-graded from 120 beds to 300 beds in which all latest medical equipment and machinery are also being provided and the upgraded hospital would become functional in March 2016. Centrally air-conditioning system is being installed in the hospital, whereas installation of lift has been completed.
Kh. Salman Rafique directed that the Schedule of New Employment (SNE) for the hospital should be got approved from the Finance Department on priority basis. It was informed that latest CT scan machine of 64 slices is being installed in the hospital.
The meeting also reviewed the up-gradation and development work of tehsil headquarter hospitals of Burewala and Melsi. The meeting was informed that both the hospitals have been up-graded along with provision of medical equipment.
Moreover, cardiac units have also been set up in the hospitals. As soon as the recruitment of necessary staff would be completed cardiac units would be made functional. The meeting was informed that Rural Health Center Ludan has also been up-graded from 20 beds to 60 beds at the level of THQ hospitals. EDO Health said that additional staff for the up-graded Rural Health Center Ludan is immediately required to cater the needs of the patients.
Kh Salman Rafique said that provision of quality medical treatment facilities to the patients is the mission of Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. The Advisor directed the officers of Health Department and EDO Health Vehari to take personal interest in completion of construction work and for the approval of SNE from the Finance Department.
He directed that no laziness should be shown in completion of the development projects according to the timeline so that best treatment facilities could be available for the people of Vehari at local level and they should not travel for their medical needs to Multan or other big cities.
