Lahore: Director General Sports Punjab Usman Anwar has said the game of pentathlon got rapid growth in Pakistan. It was introduced in the country just two years back but now the players from across the country are taking keen interest in this game, he was addressing the certificate awarding ceremony of Pakistan Modern Pentathlon Federation (PMPF) at Punjab Stadium on Friday.
The ceremony was arranged at the conclusion of 10-day coaching/training camp which was organized under the banner of Sports Board Punjab. The camp was organised for the preparation of 2nd National Pentathlon Championship being played on November 21 and 22 at Punjab Stadium.

DG SBP Usman Anwar said the way our youngsters are doing hard work under the supervision of British coach Bernard Moss, Pakistan can produce world champions in the game of pentathlon. “Pentathlon is a tough game but not for our strong and talented players. Our players have also excelled in several other games like snooker, chess, powerlifting, squash and tennis etc,” he added.
He said Sports Board Punjab will continue to do effective efforts for the bright future of Pakistan sports in the future as well.
Addressing the ceremony, British coach Bernard Moss admired the talented Pakistan players. “I travelled to various countries of the world but found Pakistan talent exceptional among all. Pakistan people are loving and caring. I’m always available to coach Pakistan pentathlon players,” he stressed.
Senior Vice-President PMPF Tahir Fawad Shah, Secretary General Zahoor Ahmed, General Secretary FATA Nisar Ahmed and Fakhra Tabassum, coaching staff Ali Nawaz and M Aslam from Pakistan Steel Mills, Karachi, Punjab’s Rushna Khan, Munaza Mubarak and Abid Mehmood also attended the ceremony.
Those who received the certificates from DG SBP include Zoya Hussain, Samreen Altaf (Islamabad), Farhat Batool, Rida Imtiaz, Rubab (Punjab), Yasir Muneer (Sindh), Ali Husnain, Zeeshan Abdul, M Raees, Sohaib Shafiq (AJK), Wali Rehman (FATA), Sultan Hakeem (KPK), Abdul Wakeel, Zubair Ahmed (Balochistan), Haroon Wahid, M Sabit Ameen (Islamabad) and Shahid Ali, Hasan Mehmood (Punjab).
