Peaceful elections could be possible due to security strategy:Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera

Lahore: Due to successful pre and post election security strategy and because of discharging excellent performance of the police force deployed in 12 districts holding of free, fair and impartial elections would become possible.

This was stated by Inspector General Police Punjab Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera while talking to the officers in control room of CPO today. IGP himself directly monitored the election security acrossed the day.

IGP was told that 25 FIRs were lodged today against the election violators on the complaints of police, presiding officers and PTI’s workers. IGP was further told that total 73 workers were arrested which included 28 from PML(N), 18 from PTI and 27 independent workers. The highest number of 27 arrests were made in Hafizabad, in Shekhupura 18, Gujranwala 9, Mandi Bahaudin 7, Jehlum 1, Sargodha 6 and 5 violators from Sahiwal.

Due to scuffle incidents 45 persons received minor injuries which included 27 PML(N), 9 PTI and 9 independent workers. The police also recovered 5 illegal weapons from various persons.

Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera said that due to additional deployment of 5410 officials for second shift post elections security situation remained under control in all 12 districts. Moreover, to avoid the firing incidents 1815 licensed weapons and 16507 surety bonds were collected from the election candidates.
