Tashkent: Pakistan and Uzbekistan on Tuesday inked a Joint Communique and several Memorandums of Understanding to strengthen bilateral cooperation, avoid double taxation and collaboration in many areas.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Uzbek President Islam Karimov, after holding an exclusive meeting and delegation level talks, inked the document, besides witnessing the signing of agreements.
President Karmiov lauded the statesmanship of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and said Pakistan was playing a key role in the region.He also appreciated Pakistan’s policy of pursuing peace and stability and regional connectivity. He also noted its roadmap of enhancing trade and business ties with the Central Asian Republics.
He expressed the hope that Prime Minister’s visit would further boost bilateral ties between the two countries and help explore new areas of cooperation.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said he last visited Tashkent in June 1992 and said the two countries have historic ties.He said the two countries have strong multifaceted ties and his talks covered all aspects of relationship. He said his government was keen to enhance regional connectivity, through road links.
