Political activities accelerated with public rallies, processions and corner meetings

ECP logoMandi Bahauddin(Sher Gondal): The electioneering for the second phase of Local Government elections in Mandi Bahauddin has accelerated with public rallies, processions and corner meetings. Election banners flags and posters are displayed in every nook and corner which has added more enthusiasm in the public. Hustle and bustle starts after evenings at election offices where supporters plan and contact voters for votes in favor of their candidate.

Candidate besides addressing corner meetings bring relatives of the voters for wooing voters. It appears that public has put everything behind and their attention is focused on election and efforts to make their respective candidates win.

On the other hand local administration, police and all government departments are working and making preparations for conduct of elections. Rangers have also been called to augment efforts of police to ensure fool proof security arrangements at polling stations and escorting presiding officers when they, at the end of elections proceed to returning officers for handing over results and their records.

There are 80 union councils, three municipal committees in this district. !6 Returning Officers with DCO as District Returning Officer have been appointed to hold the election throughout the districts. Besides chairman/vice chairman 6 general councilors would be elected in each union council, whereas 33, 17 and 12 general councilors would be elected for municipal committees of Mandi Bahauddin, Phalia and Malkwal respectively. 554 polling stations will be set up where voters would cast their votes. Male and female voters in this district are 519398 and 373978 respectively. Basing on these figures total voters are 893376 who would exercise their right to vote on 19 November 2015.

According to survey majority of candidates belong to PMLN. Where there was dispute among the candidates over grant of ticket, the party decided to allow them contest election as independent candidates. Whoever wins he would later join PML-N.
