Punjab signs MoU with China for safer cities

Lahore: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Chinese and Punjab Governments on Wednesday for a mutual collaboration on establishment of Integrated Command, Control and Communication (IC3) System in selected districts of Punjab.

The General Manager International Department II of China Mr. Tian Taobin and the Chairman Punjab IT Board (PITB) Dr. Umar Saif inked the papers of MoU in presence of the Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. According to the agreement, the Chinese public sector company CETC International Co. Ltd. would help the PITB in identifying the areas where technology solutions especially pertaining to security and surveillance would be needed.

Besides exploring the avenues to engage the CTEC expertise, the PITB would provide it with the necessary support. Dr. Saif, speaking on the occasion said that the IC3 system was already being deployed in Lahore Police that was becoming an effective mode in bringing together various elements of Punjab Police operations to work as a more unified team. “Now as the project is being extended to other cities of the province, the expertise of CTEC would prove a great support in this regard.”

He added. Mr. Tian Taobin said that the joint venture would reinforce everlasting friendship between Pakistan and China. He said that Pakistan’s role in war on terrorism was above the board and China would feel pleasure to be its part by making the lives of Pakistani people safer. “It will equally strengthen the war torn economy of Pakistan,” he added.
