Lahore: Syed Ibne Abbas, Pakistan High Commissioner to the UK, together with his spouse Sadaf Abbas, attended the Remembrance Day ceremony in Whitehall, Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO), London on 8 November 2015. The Queen led tributes to the UK’s war dead at the annual Remembrance Sunday service.
Representing Pakistan, the High Commissioner laid wreath at the Cenotaph in the Whitehall. The Queen, Prime Minister David Cameron and the other main political party leaders all laid wreaths to mark the occasion.
After the ceremony, the High Commissioner attended a Reception in the FCO jointly hosted by Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond and Culture Secretary John Whittingdale. At the Reception, the High Commissioner got an opportunity to briefly exchange courtesies with the Prime Minister, Cabinet Ministers, Chiefs of Staff and others who participated in the ceremony.
Thousands gathered at the Cenotaph memorial for a two-minute silence to honour those killed in World Wars One and Two and later conflicts.
