Sundar Tragedy; death toll touches to 46

Lahore: Rescue Operation was still in progress at Sundar on the fifth day of the building collapse.Rescue 1122 has confirmed death toll is reached to 46 (43 Bodies retrieved from spot and 03 died in hospitals). They expressed hope that tomorrow shall give clear picture of the operation.

Today DG Rescue Punjab Brig. Dr. Arshad Zia suspended Search & Rescue Operation from 01 to 02 PM for Canine Search afterwards Rescuers found indication for one or two bodies. Therefore, again full-scale rescue operation was relaunched. DG Rescue Punjab said that it can be assumed that 80 percent Search and Rescue Operation has been completed. Some four to five families sitting outside the site are claiming for their dear ones buried under the debris for which Rescue Operation shall continue till satisfaction of last aggrieved. DG Rescue Punjab is leading this collaborative operation as Incident Commander.

DG Rescue Punjab Brig. Dr. Arshad Zia stated that tomorrow we shall be able to search all the floors of the collapsed structure and then we shall be in position to expedite the operation. He said the moral of the Rescuers is high and they are determined to discharge their duties more enthusiastically.Rescue Teams of 08 Districts are participating in this operation.
