Mandi Bahauddin (Sher Gondal): Ex-servicemen in general feel grieved over apathy of government to redress their problems relating to pension, rehabilitation and indifferent attitude of local administration and police towards them.
DASB at district level is responsible for redressing their problems and helping them in seeking relief from local administration. Unfortunately DASB performance has deteriorated. Therefore ex-servicemen look towards PESS for assistance.
PESS since its coming into being has been working to promote welfare of its members and pointing out ex-servicemen problems for the notice and consideration of government. Government on the other hand is paying no heed. This situation has forced former soldiers and widows to come to streets for raising their grievance.
Mandi Bahauddin has no DASB so far and their requests to authorities for setting up same have gone in vain. As a last resort they are considering to hold a “sit in” at Press Club Islamabad to draw attention of rulers to their plight. Date and time would be announced in due course of time.
Ex-servicemen at Islamabad and Rawalpindi are requested to guide and support us in holding “sit in” as being considered, said the secretary PESS Mandi Bahauddin CWO Abdul Ghani Gujar when talking to media persons here on Sunday.
