Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Punjab organiser Ch Muhammad Sarwar has termed the distribution of Kissan Package as an “Electoral Fraud Package” to help PML-N local government election candidates win.
He said the government’s plan to levy some Rs 40 billion additional taxes will help the PML-N to complete its agenda of “Elimination of the poor”.
He said the gas companies were planning to fleece people by enhancing security deposit by 50 per cent on household consumers to ensure a collection of Rs9 billion. He said the rulers’ anti-people agenda has led to enormous increase in poverty, price-hikes and joblessness.
He said the dream of real democracy in the country cannot be completed without holding elections in a free, fair and transparent manner. When bureaucracy runs the rulers election campaign then illegal activities cannot be monitored.
Chaudhary Sarwar was speaking on the occasion of Tandlianwala Union Council Independent elected chairman Haji Abdul Waheed Sandheela’s joining of PTI. PTI Punjab deputy organizer Omar Sarfraz Cheema, PTI councilors Ahmad Raza Baloch, Raja Waqas, Raja Yasir Baloch and others were also present on the occasion.
Chaudhary Sarwar said that the people had already been pushed against the wall due to price-hikes and joblessness and the levying of new taxes on the instructions of IMF would compel the poor to commit suicides. He said the government’s decision to enhance 50 per cent security deposit to be paid by the domestic consumers instead of checking gas theft and system losses is an informed decision against the masses. He said the government should alleviate poverty instead of “eliminating the poor”.
Chaudhary Sarwar said that the rulers are using all ploys to influence the local government elections. He said that the government’s announcement of Kissan Package is not going to help the end farmer. He said that PTI wanted to warn the rulers that they should refrain from rigging the elections as PTI will not tolerate this.He said that the police and other state institutions seem to be in-charge of leading the election campaign for the PML-N.
He said that the state resources were also being used in an extravagant manner. He said that Imran Khan’s demand of free and fair elections was the representation of people’s desires. However, he said, that the incumbent Election Commission of Pakistan had failed to hold free and fair elections in the country. He said that people’s welfare was nowhere in the priority list of the incumbent rulers. He said that the rulers were only busy in their political advertisement, while the country was facing innumerable problems. He stressed that the PTI workers will continue their local government election campaign and added that the PTI will win.
