Lahore: Apropos of a press release issued by the federal ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination on Nov. 2 evening in Islamabad, quoting Federal Minister Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada with regard to Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board Shaharyar M. Khan’s visit to India for negotiations with the BCCI president, the PCB would want to put the following stance on record:
- PCB has until the issuance of this media release not received any communication from the ministry of IPC.
- PCB would respond to such communication as and when it receives it confidentially, without making its response public.
- PCB is an autonomous organization, answerable to its Patron, the Prime Minister of Pakistan and its board of governors. Both stakeholders have been kept apprised of the developments with regard to the PCB and BCCI matters.
- PCB has always conducted its negotiations with the BCCI and other national cricketing entities independently – with the government at no stage ever preventing it from so doing.
- The International Cricket Council, the global governing body of the game, is sensitive to government interference in affairs of its member boards.
