PITB holds a seminar on Breast Cancer

Lahore. Mrs. Tehreen Umar Saif, Musarrat Misbah, Dr. Farah Faris & Dr. Qurratul Ain Munir are addressing a seminar on Breast Cancer held at Arfa Tower         (29 Oct. 2015)Lahore: Punjab IT Board  organised a seminar at Arfa Software Technology Park in order to create awareness about Breast Cancer on Thursday. The women staff members of PITB and female students of Information Technology University participated in the seminar.

Mrs Tehreen Umar Saif was the prestigious chief guest of the event accompanied by motivational speaker and CEO Smile Again Foundation Ms. Musarrat Misbah, Dr Farrah Faris of Route2 Health, Dr Zarah Javed of Base6, and Dr Qurat-ul-Ain of Mayo Hospital. The speakers discussed various essential aspects of healthy life and well-being laying emphasis on breast cancer. Special thanks were paid to the Pink Ribbon for its strong support to PITB in this endevour.

Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Saif said that our collective efforts are desired to fight this dangerous disease that caused lot of deaths to the mothers and sisters. She appreciated the role of PITB in conducting such a useful awareness session for the female staff.

Musarrat Misbah said that “prevention is better than cure so mother-daughter interaction was necessary as a pre-emptive measure against that fatal disease.

Dr. Farah Faris said “20-30 percent patients suffer from breast cancer genetically. We can’t control genetic disorders but certainly can control our life style to avert this disease. So a holistic approach from diet to tests is imperative as latest research reveals that 30-40% breast cancer cases are based on nutritional habits. It should be regular habits to check your BMI, cut fat intake, take exercise, avoid stress, and take Omega-3.”

Dr. Qurratul Ain said that the breast cancer was the top cause of deaths among Pakistani women because they were not educated about self-examination. She advised the participants to examine their breasts every now and then and consult doctor on finding any change or lump.
Additionally, the male staff members of PITB endorsed ‘Pink Ribbon’ in the spirit of women’s health and well-being, all the male staff members of PITB.
