Tabassum Shahzad visits Chief Minister office on the invitation of Shahbaz Sharif

Tabassum Shahzad calls on Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz SharifLahore: A student of 5th class, Tabassum Shahzad whose both Arms were cut off by an influential landlord of Gujrat met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, here today.

The father of the child was also present on the occasion.

Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif especially invited a student of 5thclass, Tabassum Shahzad .

The Chief Minister inquired from him about his education and treatment. The Chief Minister called the child and presented a chair to him.

Shahbaz Sharif gave his pen and notebook to Tabasam Shehzad upon which he wrote in English with his foot “Chief Minister Office Punjab”.

The Chief Minister sat on the floor and saw the student writing with his foot very attentively. He gave shabash to Tabasam Shehzad and encouraged him. Shehbaz Sharif asked the student in which class he is reading, upon which Tabasam Shehzad told that he is studying in 5th class.

Tabasam Shehzad told that he cannot wear his cloth and shoes and his mother does this work, upon which, the Chief Minister said that a cruelty has been committed by cutting off both arms of an innocent child.

Talking to Tabasam Shahzad and his father, Shahbaz Sharif said that the ruthless person who had made the innocent child disabled deserves no mercy and such beasts should be awarded maximum punishment.

The Chief Minister said that Tabasam Shahzad will be given admission in DPS School and if he wants to study in any school of Lahore, he will be facilitated. He said that Punjab government will also arrange artificial limbs for Tabasam Shehzad. He issued instructions for depositing the amount required for artificial limbs in the account and said that he will get artificial arms with this sum when he will reach the age of 17 years.

According to a medical board, artificial limbs can be fixed on the child when he reaches the age of 17 years. Shehbaz Sharif said that Punjab government will pursue the case in anti-terrorism court. Taking strict notice of the complaint of the father of Tabasam Shehzad that he was following the case from his own pocket, the Chief Minister directed that the amount spent by the father of the child for this purpose should be repaid. On the request of Tabasam Shahzad and his father, the Chief Minister also announced that expenditure of the education of the brother of Tabasam Shehzad will also be borne by Punjab government.

Shahbaz Sharif further directed that all out protection should be provided to the family of Tabasam Shehzad and strict legal action be taken against the elements threatening the family. He said that had DCO and DPO acted upon his instructions, he would not have to call the child to Lahore. On this occasion, the student Tabassum Shahzad wrote “Chief Minister Punjab Office” on a piece of paper with his foot.

The Chief Minister sat on the ground and saw the child writing with his foot,  and gave Shabash to him for his encouragement. The Chief Minister also inquired from the concerned authorities about the progress of the case and directed that the case should be followed effectively so that maximum punishment could be ensured to the culprit.

Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed, Secretary Schools Education, DCO Gujrat, DPO Gujrat and Dr. Jameel who is treating the child were also present on the occasion. It may be mentioned that Ghulam Mustafa, a local landlord of village Chak Bhola Gujrat had cut off both the Arms of Tabasam Shehzad after a dispute with his father.

Shahbaz Sharif had visited Tabasam Shehzad in the hospital and announced to bear all expenses on the treatment, rehabilitation and education of the child.
