Lahore: The federal government agencies have claimed to reopen the Naran-Abbotabad road to traffic that was closed due to heavy snowfall since morning restraining around 15 hundreds tourist including women and kids.
The media made hue & cry over the situation throughout the day and elaborated the miserable condition of the tourists but provincial govt turn the deaf year and no assistance could reached at Naran to rescue the people who were stuck there while going back to their homes after visiting the heaven on earth.
According to the federal government spokesperson, helicopters have been provided to the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa to rescue the stranded tourists in Naran and Mansehra areas.
However, the National Disaster Management Authority could not yet launch the evacuation operation due to bad weather condition.
The spokesperson said the Prime Minister was personally overseeing the situation and directed to provide further support including more helicopters to the provincial government, if required.
The NDMA had already arranged four helicopters to airlift the tourists, he added.
Meanwhile; Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Sunday took notice of the stranded tourists in Naran and Mansehra areas due to heavy snowfall and directed the concerned authorities to evacuate them on priority basis.
The Prime Minister directed the NDMA to coordinate with the provincial government for evacuation of stranded tourists, said a PM House statement here.
The NDMA would start the evacuation operation as severe weather subsides.
The authority arranged four helicopters to airlift the tourists from Naran and Mansehra areas who had been stranded owing to heavy snowfall.
The Prime Minister has further directed all relevant federal departments to coordinate with provincial government of KPK. The Prime Minister directed the NDMA to coordinate with the provincial government for evacuation operation.
On PM’s directive, Federal Secretary Interior has contacted Chief Secretary KPK and offered all possible assistance to rescue the stranded people.
