Zaheer Abbas calls on Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif

Lahore: President International Cricket Council Zaheer Abbas met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, here today, and discussed matters regarding promotion of cricket.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that there is a lot of talent of cricket in Pakistan and the county can regain its status in the cricket world by polishing this talent. He said that the visit of Zimbabwean cricket team to Pakistan is an important step towards revival of international cricket in the country and positive measures should continue in this regard. He assured that Punjab government is ready to extend all out cooperation for this purpose.

The Chief Minister said that Pakistani cricketers have won laurels for the country at international level on several occasions. He said that Punjab government has provided new grounds for promotion of cricket and other sports and a comprehensive programme is being implemented for this purpose. He said that sports play an important role in promoting discipline and minimizing tension in the society.

He said that promotion of cricket and other sports can help in controlling negative activities. He said that sportsman spirit is the essence of all sports including cricket.

The Chief Minister said that Punjab government will continue to provide maximum facilities for promotion of cricket and other sports in the province.
