Lahore: Medical Superintendent Punjab Institute of Cardiology, Dr. Sohail Saqlain has said that administration of hospital has taken a number of steps for the welfare of patients and ensured provision of quality and safe medicines to them.
A committee headed by Additional Medical Superintendent has been constituted for disposing of expired medicines in PIC Lahore which comprises Audit Officer, Pharmacist and a representative of the concerned company.
Dr. Sohail Saqlain said that the medicines which were expired or the color of which was changed were disposed of according to SOP. He contradicted the news item that medicines of huge cost were destroyed. He further said that the value of above mentioned medicines was not more than one lakh 30 thousand rupees.
Moreover, the concerned firm had immediately replaced these medicines and neither any illegal step was taken in this regard nor any loss was caused to the exchequer. He said that disposing of expired medicines is a good step.
