Lahore: While presiding over an introductory meeting of journalists especially the beat reporters, the newly appointed DG Rescue Punjab Brig. (r) Dr. Arshad Zia said that implementation of service structure and streamlining the overall Rescue 1122 system are his main priorities. He said that Rescue 1122 under the vision of the Chief Minister, Punjab, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Rescue 1122 is establishing Urban Search & Rescue Teams in all nine divisions of the Punjab, which shall respond to any disaster in future along with heavy machinery and modern emergency equipment.
The meeting was attended by DD (HR) Dr. Foaad Shahzad Mirza, Deputy Director (P&D) Faheem Ahmed Qureshi, DD (Finance) Naeem Mukhtar, Rescue 1122 spokesperson Jam Sajjad Hussain, Head of Operations, Ayyaz Aslam, District Emergency Officer, Lahore Dr. Ahmed Raza, and other senior officers here at Emergency Services Academy, Thokar Niaz Baig on Tuesday.
Earlier, the Director General, Emergency Service (Rescue 1122), Brig (r) Dr. Arshad Zia called on media personnel especially the beat reporters and pledged that his priorities would be implementation of service structure, streamlining disciplinary issues, training, welfare of rescuers, revival of allowances, allotment of vehicles, accommodation, extension of leaves and purchase & maintenance of emergency equipment. The Director General, Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) said that the room for improvement always remains at its place and in the light of lesson learnt from debriefings of different major operations, the system would be streamlined in future on all fronts including Fire; Rescue and Medical.
Brig (r) Dr. Arshad Zia further said that he was working on welfare of the rescuers, as such steps usually boost up the morale of the force. Meanwhile, the media personnel also gave imperative suggestion for improvement and capacity building of emergency services and to streamline the liaison with media in case of any emergency. Upon which, DG Rescue Punjab said that he would come up with their aspirations and separate staff would be given to the Public Relations Wing for coordination with media personnel very soon. He further said that media was playing pivotal role and he would too expect valuable suggestions from media personnel in future.
