Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that work will have to be carried out on war footing for the provision of best and quality facilities of public health to the people of the province.
He said that situation has improved due to implementation of Punjab Health Reforms Roadmap. He said that a remarkable improvement has taken place in the provision of necessary medicines to basic and rural health centers however still there is long journey.
He was addressing a high level meeting here today which reviewed the pace of implementation of Punjab Health Reforms Roadmap.
He said that concerned institutions will have to improve the situation through collective efforts for the provision of best treatment facilities in hospitals and basic and rural health centers. He said that DCOs and EDOs Health showing good performance regarding implementation of Punjab Health Reforms Roadmap will be encouraged while inefficient officials will be held accountable.
He said that there is also a need to work on war footing for improving sanitary arrangements in the hospitals and collective efforts are required for the improvement of public health facilities. He said that hard work and commitment is essential for provision of quality health facilities in hospital and basic health centers.
The Chief Minister said that provision of proper treatment facilities in hospitals is responsibility of DCOs and they should pay regular visits to hospitals for this purpose. He said that Health Department is being bifurcated for provision of better health facilities to the citizens.
The Chief Minister directed that provision of medicines to the patients should be ensured in hospitals and digital monitoring system should be evolved with regard to stock and supply of medicines to the patients. He said that data of patients should be collected through electronic monitoring while training of lady health workers should also be arranged.
Shahbaz Sharif said that service to ailing humanity is a form of worship and health authorities should spare no effort in this regard. He reprimanded DCO Khushab for unsatisfactory performance and said that there is no room for inefficient officers. He said that the officers not performing their duties with a sense of responsibility will be held accountable. He said that biometric system has been set up for improving attendance in hospitals.
He directed that action should be taken without any discrimination against those leaving the office without permission of competent authority. He said that complete audit of stock of medicines and their utilization in hospitals is essential by benefitting from information technology.
Special representative of British Department for International Development Sir Michael Barber said that encouraging results have been achieved from health reforms roadmap within a few months under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and health sector is improving. Commendatory certificates were given to three lady health visitors for good performance.
