Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif went to the house of Sonia at village Dinpura near Muzaffargarh who self-immolated due to non provision of justice.
He sought details of the incident from her parents and consoled mother of the victim and assured provision of justice to them and said “Tuhanun Main Khud Insaf Dilasan”.
The Chief Minister expressed sympathies and condolences with the parents of Sonia and assured that justice will be provided to the affected family at every cost. He said that accused involved in this incident will not escape deterrent punishment. Shehbaz Sharif strongly reprimanded DPO Muzaffargarh and said that if this is the situation in Police stations under your control, then how a common man will get justice.
He asked DPO Muzaffargarh was it not his responsibility to review the performance of officers and officials in concerned subordinate police stations. Had police system working properly then an innocent woman would not have taken this extreme step, he added. He said that the grievance of common man should be redressed in the police stations.
Shahbaz Sharif ordered immediate suspension of concerned DSP and said that the absconder SHO and other accused involved in the incident should be arrested at the earliest. He also directed to register a case against ASI forcing reconciliation. He said that provision of justice is the responsibility of police. He said that if system is strong and working properly then people will get justice from police stations.
Talking to the parents of Sonia, Shahbaz Sharif said that provision of justice to the affected family will be ensured at every cost. He said that perpetrators of this act will not escape punishment. He said that the incident will be investigated thoroughly and case will be sent to anti-terrorist court. He said that Punjab government will pursue the case.
He said that a precious human life was lost but police did not provide justice. He said that those responsible for self-immolation of Sonia in Muzaffargarh will be awarded punishment. The Chief Minister said that he will ensure justice to the affected family at every cost and will not rest content till the provision of justice to the parents of Sonia. He expressed condolences with the parents of Sonia and offered Fateha for the departed soul.
Shahbaz Sharif was told that SHO Police Station Sadar Noor Hussain and Constable Abdul Qayyum Dasti have been arrested while SHO Police Station City is absconder and action is continuing for his arrest and of other accused.
The Chief Minister gave his mobile number to the mother of Sonia and said that no hurdle would be tolerated in the provision of justice. The Chief Minister went from Multan to Muzaffargarh through helicopter from where he reached the house of Sonia at Dinpura in an ordinary vehicle.
