Lahore: In order to review the security arrangements, progress of Dolphin Force, Police Respond Unit (PRU) and the promotions structure of Driver Constables and wireless operators, an important meeting was held here today at Central Police Office, Lahore under the chairmanship of Inspector General of Police Punjab, Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera.
All RPOs and DPOs through video link and Addl: IGP Welfare and Finance, Sohail Khan, Addl: IGP Operations, Capt. (R) Arif Nawaz, Addl: IGP Legal, Ali Zulnurain Sheikh, DIG Headquarters, Farooq Mazhar, DIG Establishment-I, Azhar Hameed Khokhar, DIG Establishment-II, Muhammad Nawaz Warraich, DIG PHP, Salman Chaudhry, AIG Logistics, Hamayun Bashir Tarar, AIG Legislative Business, Waqar Abbasi and SSP MT also attended the meeting in CPO. All officers told the IGP that the security arrangements during moharram have been completed as per SOP issued by the IGP. They also told that the issue being faced by the districts of the shortage of force has also been provided them as per their request.
While briefing in the meeting regarding the progress of the Dolphin Force and Police Respond Unit (PRU), CCPO and DIG Operations, Lahore told the IGP that the first batch of 350 recruits of dolphin force are under training at Police Training Center Chung, which will be completed by 24 October, 2015. They told that the training period was of 7 weeks and all professional courses including weapon and motorcycle handling on special tracks is continued at Training Center. IGP was told that at the first phase among three hundred 500/cc motorcycles 160 have been handed over to the Lahore police, whereas, the rest of 140 will be allotted with in a week.
Amin Wainse and Dr. Haider Ashraf also told the IGP that under the PRU project 82 vehicles among 110 have been on roads and patrolling in all Lahore police stations. These vehicles also have been allotted their beats having one ASI incharge, driver and two constable gunman. They told that each vehicle have Digital Camera, Megaphone, First Aid Kit, Traffic Cones, Rain Shoes and Water Bottles. These vehicles have the capacity to immediate respond during any incident in any area of Lahore. The PRU squad has also three buses, one mobile canteen and mobile workshop. Initially the PRU squad is working in one shift of 12 hours which will be distributed in three shifts for 24 hours.
On this occasion, IGP expressed the hope that the metropolitan Lahore will be more safe and secured due to these public safety oriented projects.
In the meeting, DIG Telecommunication, Tariq Rustam Chauhan and SSP M.T discussed various proposals regarding the promotions of wireless operators and driver constables. IGP appreciated these proposals and said that it will be reviewed thoroughly and will be finalized under the rules and regulations.
