Lahore: Honorary Consul General of Ghana Dr. Shahid Rasheed Butt on Sunday said Pakistan is to take active part in socio-economic development of Ghana.
Both the countries are enjoying excellent relations while a number of Pakistani companies are engaged is different activities in Ghana with a focus on oil and gas exploration, he said.
The Consul General said this while talking a group of Ambassadors and others senior officials at a function organised by Commission on Science and Technology for Sustainable Development in the South (COMSATS).
He said that a high-powered delegation from Pakistan led by Federal Minister for Science and Technology Rana Tanveer Hussain is to leave to Ghana soon to participate in 3rdCommission Meeting and the 3rd Consultative Committee meeting of COMSATS to be held on October 26. The delegation will also hold meeting with top officials of Ghana.
Shahid Rasheed Butt who is also Patron Islamabad Chamber of Small Traders Shahid Rasheed Butt said that investors to explore opportunities in rapidly developing African country of Ghana.
Ghana is offering matchless benefits to foreign investors where growth rate was 7.3 percent in 2013, 4.2 percent in 2015 and it is projected to be 6.0 percent in 2016, he said.
He said that Ghana with population of 27 million attracted foreign investment of four billion dollars which is more than combined FDI that India and Pakistan attracted in the same period.
Local and foreign investors enjoy similar benefits in the African nation which include repatriation of profits, he informed.
Twenty commercial banks are operating in Ghana providing facilities to local and foreign investors on the directives of the government.
