Lahore: Provincial Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Chairman Cabinet Committee on Muharram-ul-Haram, Rana Sanaullah Khan has said that maintenance of peace is among top priorities of the government. He said that strict action will be taken against the persons involved in religious hatred, provocative speeches, publication of literature and wall-chalking during Muharram-ul-Haram. He said that the new list of Zakireen and Ulema included in Zila bandi, zuban bandi and fourth schedule will be compiled.
He was presiding over a meeting of Ulema of different schools of thought, Members National and Provincial Assembly belonging to Lahore division regarding maintenance of law and order during Muharram-ul-Haram at Civil Secretariat, here today.
Special Assistant to Chief Minister Rana Maqbool Ahmed, Secretary Home Azam Suleman, IG Punjab, CCPO Lahore and DCO Lahore were also present on the occasion.
Rana Sanaullah said that Zakireen will ensure ban on Loudspeaker Act. He appealed to Sheia Ulema to try to end their Majalis and other religious worships before Magharib prayer so that enemies of peace could not commit any unscrupulous act by benefitting from darkness of night. He said that DCO, RPO and CPO of concerned districts will be responsible for contacting the Ulema for resolving their problems at local level. He said that foolproof security arrangements will be made during Muharram-ul-Haram, however, rangers and army will remain on call in case of any untoward incident.
Law Minister said that persons involved in wall-chalking will be dealt with under Terrorism Act. He said that control rooms would be set up at district and divisional level for monitoring of the province during Muharram-ul-Haram.
