Lahore: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Punjab organiser Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar has asked that why PML-N is creating a drama of presenting itself before people, if it eventually plans to take refuge in courts. He said PML-N’s Ayaz Sadiq is also planning to take court’s shelter because he could see his defeat in the by-election.
Chaudhary Sarwar said the PTI would never boycott the by-election and local government elections and face the PML-N in the election arena. In any democracy in the world, he said, the government would have resigned, if election tribunals identify rigging in three constituencies but the incumbent rulers had nothing to do with morality.
Despite ban by the Election Commission of Pakistan, he said, the government had called for tenders for Rs3.25 billion development projects till Oct 6. He said the ECP should take notice of the pre-poll rigging.
Chaudhary Sarwar was addressing a press conference at Chairman’s secretariat flanked by Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed, PTI Lahore organiser Shafqat Mahmood and Punjab deputy organiser Omar Sarfraz Cheema and others on Tuesday. After the 2013 general elections, he said, party chairman Imran Khan made a simple demand that the ECP should hold vote audit in only four constituencies but the ECP did not respond to the demand.
However, he said, after over two years’ struggle, he said, three out of four constituencies had been investigated and ample of evidence of rigging had been found. Now, he said, PML-N’s diehard people are supporting PTI’s candidate Jahangir Tareen in Lodhran and the PML-N could see its defeat. He said the PML-N had itself ran away from the election though it continued to say that PTI would not dare to contest the elections.
Expressing his apprehension that the PML-N will also run from elections in Lahore, Chaudhary Sarwar asked the PML-N to tell the nation on media that it would contest the Lahore by-election otherwise it would be considered that the PML-N would run away instead of facing PTI in the elections. He said Ayaz Sadiq’s petition would be heard in the court on Oct 10.
Chaudhary Sarwar said an Election Tribunal had disqualified PML-N’s Siddique Baloch on the charges of rigging but now after the court’s decision a fake degree-holder would remain member of the National Assembly? Since an environment of by-election and local government had been created, he said, the court decision had disappointed the PTI in particular and masses in general.
Chaudhary Sarwar said the court decision had blocked democratic path for the PTI and paved the way for the revolution. He asked that how long the PML-N would continue to hide itself behind the courts instead of facing the PTI?He said the PML-N had also failed to fulfill any of its promises with the nation including ending load-shedding, price-hike, joblessness and corruption and that is why it is unable to face masses in the elections.
He also said that the PML-N was now harassing PTI’s workers through Punjab police and other departments but it would never boycott the by-elections and local government elections. He said the PTI would fight against all tactics being employed by the government. He said the PTI would win the by-election by defeating the ruling PML-N.
