Afghan President Ashraf Ghani’s statement about Pakistan is unfortunate: Senator Sirajul Haq

pic ameer ji -2Lahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has termed Afghan President Ashraf Ghani’s statement about relations with Pakistan as unfortunate and surprising.

He said that Afghanistan and Pakistan were wedded together through centuries’ old religious, social and cultural ties and describing these as mere relations between two states was far from reality.

He said that India’s attempts to distance the two Muslim states and create misunderstandings between them would be foiled. He made these remarks while commenting on the Afghan President’s statements in a recent interview with the BBC.

Sirajul Haq said that India had always desired and had been trying hard to create bad blood between Pakistan and Afghanistan and had never missed any chance to distance the people of the two countries.

The JI chief however said that restoration of peace in the region and the end to the war in Afghanistan and the lawlessness going on in Pakistan for decades was possible only if the governments in Kabul and Islamabad sat together and worked out a joint strategy for these goals.

He said that India was least interested in peace in Afghanistan and was using Afghanistan to destabilize Pakistan and to increase her influence in Afghanistan. On the other hand, he said, the relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan were deep rooted and India’s efforts to distance them would fail.

Meanwhile, while commenting on the Election Commission’s statement appearing in a section of the press, the JI chief counseled the ECP to correct its record regarding the result of PK 95.

While addressing notables of Samar Bagh, he said that the ECP was committing great injustice by delaying the notification of the electoral victory of Aizaz ul Mulk Afkari, from PK 95. He said that the election had been held five months ago and during this time, the people of the constituency had remained without a representative. He said that the notification issued on September 22 was in regard o the PK 93 and not PK 95.
