French language opens numerous opportunities for progress:French Cultural Counsellor, Martine Herle-Hamidi

LSFI_Sep23-2015Lahore: French Cultural Counsellor, Martine Herle-Hamidi has said that French is the language which opens numerous opportunities for progress, saying that “There are 29 independent nations where French is an official language along with being the working and official language of United Nations, the European Union, UNESCO, NATO, the International Olympic Committee, the International Red Cross and different organizations across the globe.”
She made these remarks while addressing as Chief Guest during a certificate distribution ceremony in honor of the French Language teachers, organized by the Languages Without Borders (LSFI), in collaboration with the Embassy of France, here in Islamabad. Pakistani teachers who passed the Label FFLE successfully included: Mariam Nasir, Somia Ashraf, Ismat Rasool, Farah Naz Sheikh, and Zainab.
Hamidi, while lauding the efforts done by the LSFI for the elevation of French Language, said that the Embassy of France aims at the identification, recognition and promotion of the teachers who present the required guarantees of quality in the field of French as a Foreign Language (FFL) teaching. “Pakistani Students with a good level of French are eligible for French government scholarships to enroll in postgraduate courses in France in any discipline and qualify for internationally recognized French degrees,” she said, adding that knowledge of French language could be beneficial for availing opportunities at renowned French universities, business schools, and corporate organizations.
The Counsellor also highlighted the cultural aspect of French Language, as an international language of literature, cooking, fashion, film and theater, visual arts, performing arts and architecture.
On the occasion, Somia Ashraf, Director LSFI, also shared her views for the promotion of French language and quality teaching in Pakistan. A number of students, who are studying French language in different local educational institutes, were also present.
