I am committed to the Kashmir cause till the last drop of blood in my veins: Senator Sirajul Haq

Lahore: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has said that he was committed to the Kashmir cause till the last drop of blood in his veins.

He was speaking at a consultative meeting held in Islamabad on Thursday in connection with the Kashmir issue. Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Ch. Abdul Majid, former AK President Ghulam Qadir, former AK Premier Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan, and prominent Kashmiri leaders from both the sides of the Line of control, attended the meeting.

Sirajul Haq said that Pakistan’s political leadership, the power centers and the masses were on the same page so far as the Kashmir issue was concerned. He said that the real party to the Kashmir issue were the Kashmir people and the issue could not be decided without their consent and participation.

The JI chief said this was a historic moment and the participation of Kashmiri leadership from both sides was an indication that the Kashmiris in Held kashmir as also in Azad Kashmir were united.

He said it was the responsibility of the UN, and the world powers to make sincere efforts to resolve the Kashmir issue in the interest of world peace, peace in the region and to save humanity at large.

Sirajul Haq fully supported Army Chief Gen. Raheel Sharif’s statement on Kashmir issue and said the COAS had rightfully expressed the sentiments of the masses. He said it was high time that a firms and clear Kashmir policy was devised which remained unchanged with the change of governments. He said that the Kashmir policy being pursued by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was also appreciable.

However, he deplored that the Pakistani embassies abroad were not active on the Kashmir issue. He said it was imperative to set up a Kashmir Desk at the Pakistani embassies all over the world.

He also agreed to the views of the Kashmiri leadership and Kashmir people that the Pakistani media was not giving due importance to the Kashmir issue.

The JI chief stressed upon the Pakistan government to convene a consultative meeting of the Kashmiri leadership from both sides of the LoC and fully patronize them.

Sirajul Haq paid rich tributes to ex- AK President and Prime Minister Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan for his valuable services for the cause of Kashmir.
