Lahore: Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association Punjab President Prof Dr Hassan Mobeen Alam has strongly condemned the proposal of appointing 3 Pro-Vice Chancellors in each public sector university in order to reduce powers of vice-chancellors.
In his press statement issued here on Friday, Dr Alam said that the news had created panic among teachers of all the universities. He said that the government was not consulting university teachers to run affairs of public sector universities while the government was depending on the advice of bureaucracy and private sector.
He said that Ahad Cheema, Omar Saif and Zafar Iqbal Qureshi were giving anti-education and extremely harmful advices to CM for academic fraternity. He said that the elected representatives of all public sector universities of Punjab called upon Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif not to depend on the advice of bureaucracy and private sector rather take input from the relevant stakeholders and take them into confidence.
Otherwise, he warned, the university teachers would not accept any drastic amendment in the universities act at any cost.
