Punjab Chief Minister reviews law & order situation

Chief Minister PunjabLahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif presided over a high level meeting, here today, in which overall law & order situation and the progress on the implementation of steps taken under national action plan was reviewed. Initial report of blast in Multan was also presented in the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, Shahbaz Sharif said that the persons responsible of Multan blast will not escape punishment. He said that brutal murderers making target to innocent people will meet their terrible end. He said that Punjab government is taking all necessary steps for further improving law & order situation and protecting life and property of the people. He said that all out resources are being utilized for improving law & order situation and modern technology is being fully benefitted for this purpose.

The Chief Minister said that effective steps have also been taken for eliminating criminal elements and curbing crimes. He said that timely and effective steps have been taken in the province under national action plan evolved with national consensus for eliminating terrorism and extremism which are yielding encouraging results.

He said that improving law & order situation and protecting life and property of the citizens is the priority of the government and responsibility of the state and every necessary step is being taken in this regard. Shehbaz Sharif said that elimination of terrorism, extremism and sectarianism is the voice of the entire nation. He said that the decisive war is being fought on every front against terrorism, extremism and sectarianism. He said that present situation demands emergent steps and in view of this situation, police will have to discharge its duties efficiently and devotedly.

The Chief Minister ordered to further tighten the security of mosques, Imambarghahs and other worship places throughout the province and not only additional force should be deployed but special attention should also be paid to the security of sensitive places. He said that indiscriminate action should be taken against the publication and distribution of literature based on hatred and law of ban on wall-chalking and use of loudspeaker should be strictly implemented.

Shahbaz Sharif said that provocative speeches will not be tolerated and indiscriminate action should be taken against those delivering such speeches as the society needs promotion of sentiments of brotherhood, peace and tolerance. He said that all concerned institutions should perform their duties under best coordination. He directed that search operation should be further accelerated in an effective manner all over Punjab including Lahore. He said that modern technology should be fully benefited during search operation and a vigilant eye should be kept on mischievous elements.

The Chief Minister said that the activities of banned organizations should be eliminated with full force in the province and indiscriminate action will be continued against terrorists as well as their facilitators. He said that the war against terrorism is survival of Pakistan. He said that the successful operation of Pak-Army Zarb-e-Azb has defeated terrorists. He said that officers and jawans of Pak-Army, police officers and officials, politicians and citizens have given unprecedented sacrifices in the war against terrorism and the entire nation is proud of great sacrifices of martyrs.

Shahbaz Sharif said that those sacrificing their lives for peace in the country are heroes of 18 crore people and the great sacrifices of martyrs will not go waste. He reiterated that the menace of terrorism will be eliminated at all costs and terrorism and extremism will be rooted out for the establishment of a peaceful society. He vowed that the promise of giving peaceful and safe Pakistan to the coming generations will be fulfilled.

Spokesman Punjab government Zaeem Hussain Qadri, Chief Secretary, Inspector General Police, Secretary Home, Secretary Information, Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board and senior officials of concerned departments attended the meeting. Provincial Minister for Law Rana Sanaullah Khan attended the meeting from Rawalpindi while Commissioner Multan division, RPO Multan, DCO Multan and CPO Multan from Commissioner Office Multan through video link.
