PESA lauds operations in Fata and Karachi to restore writ of the Government

Lahore: The Pakistan Ex-servicemen Association (PESA) on Monday lauded operations in Fata and Karachi to restore writ of the Government and underlined need of strategic planning to change mind-set of the people and to develop fundamental national values achieving after success.

It expressed dissatisfaction over the policy of National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to recover a token money from the corrupt and letting them go free with a clean chit which is not practiced anywhere in the world.

This was observed in a meeting chaired by President PESA Lt Gen Ali Kuli Khan. Others included Vice Admiral Ahmad Tasnim, Brig Mian Mahmud, Lt Gen Naeem Akbar, Justice (Retired) Javed Nawaz Gandapur, Brig Arbi Khan, Brig Simon Sharaf, Major Farouk Hamid Khan, Major Muhammad Akram and Brig Masud ul Hassan and Sardar Muhammad Ghazi, senior advocate Supreme Court.

PESA extended full support to the Armed Forces and Rangers engaged in successful completion of Zarb-e-Azb and Karachi operation and lauded resolve of Chief of Army Staff to take these operations to logical conclusion.

The former military leaders asked the government to ensure success of the National Action Plan, adding that operations and plan could restore writ of the state at present but strategic planning is needed to change mental setting of the people.

PESA has evolved a national plan which was highly appreciated by Mr Nawaz Sharif had after a presentation was given to him before the elections. The plan has been updated which can contribute in effort to make a long term national policy.

They asked the NAB to disclose and recover total stolen funds from the corrupt with some additional fine. Its area of operations should also be extended to the entire country and cases must not be allowed to linger on as delays make some of the accused look like public heroes.

At the outset, the members paid glowing tribute to Late Lt Gen Hamid Gul, who was not only among the founding members of PESA but also an utterly honest and great patriot without any shadow of doubt. He was bold to the extent of being blunt about integrity, sovereignty and security of Pakistan.

Merger of two association representing ex-servicemen namely PESA and PESS was his cherished desire as that could give a stronger voice to ex-servicemen to express their views on national affairs.

Members of PESA agreed in principle for merger of the two organizations. Secretary General PESA was assigned the task to initiate dialogue with officials of PESS with a view to working out modalities.
