Lahore: A delegation led by Chairman All Industrialists & Businessmen Association Istanbul Yasar Dogan met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, here today. Matters of mutual interest, promotion of Pak-Turk relations and increase in cooperation in different sectors were discussed in the meeting.
The Chief Minister said that there are historical and friendly relations between Pakistan and Turkey and economic ties between the two countries are strengthening with the passage of time. He said that a number of Turk companies are investing in various sectors in Pakistan especially Punjab due to which economic relations between the two countries have strengthened.
The Chief Minister said that economic relations between Pakistan and Turkey will further strengthen with the exchange of trade and industrial delegations and the EXPO to be held in Istanbul next month is of vital importance in this regard. He said that a delegation from Punjab will also participate in EXPO in Istanbul. He said that Punjab-Turkish Desk has been set up at Punjab Investment Board which will play an important role in promotion of industrial, trade and economic relations between the two counties. Shehbaz Sharif said that Punjab government wants to set up a theme park in Lahore and it will welcome Turk cooperation in this regard.
Chairman All Industrialists & Businessmen Association Istanbul Yasar Dogan expressed the desire to promote cooperation with Punjab government in tourism and other sectors and said that it will be a matter of pleasure if Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif participates in EXPO to be arranged in Istanbul in October.
He said that Turk President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will inaugurate the EXPO. The Turk delegation formally invited Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif to participate in the EXPO and said that Pakistani pavilion will also be set up in the EXPO.
Kh. Ahmed Hassan, Chairman Punjab Investment Board Abdul Basit, former Ambassador of Pakistan in Turkey Haroon Shaukat and other concerned officers were also present on the occasion.
