Educational institutions will be set up for the children of police employees : Rana Mashud

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashud Ahmad Khan has said that educational institutions will be set up for the children of police employees throughout Punjab including Lahore. He said that the project will be started from Lahore where 26000 police officers and officials are rendering service. He said that 267 officers of Lahore police have embraced martyrdom in the war against terrorism. Besides allocating special quota for the children of police officials in private and public schools, their educational expenses will be paid from Punjab Educational Endowment Fund, he added. The administration of schools already set up at Qurban Lines will be handed over directly to Punjab police. He said that provision of free educational facilities to the children of martyrs is a part of national action plan and our national responsibility.

He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting regarding setting up of educational institutions for Punjab police department, here today. DIG Operations Dr. Haider Ashraf, EDO Schools and other officers were present on the occasion.

The Minister said that for setting up of police public school system for the children of police officers and officials, models will be considered on the pattern of Army Public School, Garrison School and DPS. He said that special security arrangements will be made for police schools. The meeting decided that a school of one kanal already present in Qurban Lines will be given under the supervision of Lahore police and Lahore police can adopt it. Rana Mashhood also announced constitution of a committee comprising representatives of Schools Education Department, college education and education wing of Punjab police for setting up of schools for police department.

Representation will be given to Punjab Education Foundation and Punjab Endowment Fund in the aforementioned committee. The meeting decided that the assistance of endowment fund will be sought for fulfilling the educational needs of children of martyrs of police on permanent basis. The Minister directed concerned authorities to get the details regarding all the martyrs of police and their children from all over the province so that all educational stages could be ensured for the children of martyrs under a comprehensive plan.
