Sugar mill owners to pay the dues of the farmers or ready to face the consequences: Bilal Yasin

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Food Bilal Yasin has directed sugar mill owners to immediately pay the dues of sugarcane farmers of the province otherwise government will take strict action against the defaulters.

He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting at office of Secretary Food today. Secretary Food Dr. Pervaiz Ahmed Khan, DG Food and other senior officers were also present.

The meeting reviewed in detail the matter of payment of amounts to sugarcane farmers. Secretary Food told that the promises made with sugarcane growers will be fulfilled and instructions have been issued to sugar mill owners to immediately pay the outstanding amounts to the farmers. He said that the amounts of cultivators will immediately be paid to them for saving the crop of sugarcane.

Bilal Yasin said that according to the instructions of Chief Minister, last chance is being given to sugar mill owners and they should benefit from the opportunity and immediately pay the amounts to sugarcane cultivators. He said that no leniency will be shown in this regard and the hard earned money of the cultivators will be paid to them at all costs.

The Minister said that payment of amounts to cultivators will inculcate a new spirit among them besides production of sugarcane will increase and this industry will be saved from losses.
