Lahore: Inspector General of Police Punjab Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera has admitted that a case is not registered in police stations without bribe. The courts considered an FIR as charge-sheet and nominated accused are not granted bail despite being innocent,he added.
Addressing a seminar with regard to Homicide Investigation Unit on Wednesday, IG Mushtaq Sukhera said that “The most complaints in police stations are about attitude. The registration of a case is impossible without bribe. A new door of corruption opens along with faulty investigation,” he said.
The IGP Punjab said that even billionaires are doing corruption.He termed the stance of declaring corruption legal on the pretext of less salary as wrong.
Mushtaq Sukhera said that former IGP had promised to end corruption by increasing the salaries. “It is pity that corruption could not be ended despite increasing salaries,” he maintained.
Mushtaq Sukhera said that he would talk to the chief minister to increase the salaries of police after the success of Homicide Investigation Unit.
The IGP ordered that innocent persons should not be arrested in a murder case. “It is my longstanding wish that police should mend their ways and become an institution where citizens could roam with liberty like their home,” he maintained.
