Lahore: Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid, who was attending an official meeting in Islamabad on Monday, took serious and strict notice of publication of wrong map of Pakistan on a flex related to a workshop organized by Department of Secondary Education, Institute of Education and Research (IER).
On his directives, Assistant Professor Dr Abida Nasreen of IER had been suspended for 90 days with immediate effect and departmental inquiry had been initiated to investigate the matter instantly. PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran has also summoned emergency meeting of IER’s Board of Governors on the same day i.e Monday (Today) September 7, 2015 at 8pm which he will preside over after reaching Lahore.
According to PU spokesman, a workshop was organized at IER’s Waheed Shaheed Hall on September 4 by Department of Secondary Education. In a flex which was printed according to the theme of the workshop, wrong map of Pakistan, without showing geographical boundaries of Kashmir, was mistakenly published due to negligence.
The spokesman said that the flex was designed and printed by Superior Printing Press and Board Makers, Multan Road, Lahore. The spokesman clarified that NO posters or pamphlets were distributed in the workshop.
The spokesman said that PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran issued strict instructions to take stern steps on emergency basis when the matter was brought to his notice. The spokesman said that action would be taken against negligent officials soon and inquiry would be completed at the earliest.
