A delegation of Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore visited the Quaid-e-Azam Library

Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore visited the Quaid-e-Azam LibraryLahore: Quaid –e- Azam Library is a high profile research and reference library of Pakistan. It is a non-lending library and caters the needs of research scholars and graduate students. The best features of this library are the high standards of services, adequate stock of books and periodicals, better reading environment and qualified staff. The asset of the library is its incomparable collection of books and non-book material. New treasurers are added each year. A good number of microfilms of rare documents, journals and newspapers are available to assist the researchers. Newspaper clipping files on 130 topics are also maintained. The computerized cataloguing, reading and research facilities through Internet are available to research scholars, students and general public. It is a regular feature of the library that seminars, lectures and literary discussions are arranged on scholarly topics. Library has visited by a large number of dignitaries.

Commandant Rear Admiral Abdul Aleem SI (M) and Captain Faisal Javed along with more than 100 officers of Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore visited the Quaid-e-Azam Library, Lahore today. The group comprised of 88 officers of the rank of Cdr / Lt.Cdr and equivalent from three services including 24 allied officers from friendly countries. In addition, 14 faculty members also accompanied the delegation. The purpose of the visit was to familiarize the officers with the working, functioning and services of the library and to acquire knowledge regarding material available for research work.

Director General Public Libraries Punjab/Secretary, Board of Governors, Quaid-e-Azam Library Dr. Zaheer Ahmad Babar and Chief Librarian, Rana Akhtar Ali along with their staff members welcomed the delegation. The delegation was given a detailed presentation about the library. A question/answer session was held.

An exchange of gifts ceremony was also held. DGPL and Chief Librarian exchanged the souvenirs with the senior officers of Navy. The officers thanked the library administration and staff on behalf of the delegation. The participants took a round of the library in groups lead by senior librarians and visited the library’s different sections including Acquisition section, Technical section, Reference and Periodical section, Protocol section, Computer section, CSS section, Audio Visual aids section, Molvi Abdul Haq Hall and Sir Syed Ahmed Khan Hall. The officers appreciated the library organization and collection and remarked the library a wonderful research institution and they also express their remarks regarding the library in the visitor book that “The Quaid -e- Azam Library is a high profile research and reference library of Pakistan, from which the people related to all professions are getting many benefits regarding education and research work”. Books on military and naval sciences were also displayed for the participants. At the end, a group photo session was held in front of the main entrance of the library.
