Lahore: PAF held an art exhibition of aviation paintings and aircraft models at Nishtar Art Gallery, Peshawar today. Air Commodore (Retd) Mir Alam (Sitara-e-Jurat) was the Chief Guest at the opening ceremony. On his arrival he was received by Air Marshal Asad Abdur Rehman Khan Lodhi, Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (Support). The exhibition under the theme of “Pakistan Air Force – a Saga of Courage and Sacrifice” would showcase the masterpieces of the renowned aviation artist Group Captain (Retd) Masood Hussaini and the aircraft models made by Wg Cdr Nadeem to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of 1965 war.
The chief guest inaugurated the exhibition by cutting the ribbon which was followed by a visit of the galleries. Air Vice Marshal Farooq Habib, Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (Training) delivered the opening address and highlighted the significance of this historic exhibition. While addressing the gathering, the chief guest appreciated the theme and purpose of exhibition and said that it was an excellent way to transfer our proud heritage to next generations through historical paintings. He further said, that the whole nation acknowledged the sacrifices rendered by the martyrs of 1965 and 1971 wars and lauded the efforts of PAF in holding such exhibition by depicting historical development of Pakistan Air Force over the years and particularly their prominent and admirable role in 1965 war.
A large number of PAF veterans, Retired and Serving Senior PAF officers and people from different walks of life were also present on the occasion. The exhibition would remain open for the general public till 06 September 2015.
