Lahore: The ex-servicemen from Pakistan Navy and Air Force eye up the presidential slot of Pakistan Ex-servicemen Society which has fell vacant after the death of Gen Hamid Gul.
To discuss the question as to who will lead the apex representative body of retired soldiers, the Pakistan Ex-servicemen Society Mandi Bahauddin held a meeting with its District President Sher Gondal in the chair the other day.
Dozens of ex-servicemen from Army, PAF and Navy including PESS office bearers attended the meeting. The ex-airmen proposed that this time president should be from PAF former generals. They suggested the names of AVM (r) Shahid Latif and AVM (r) Shahzad Chaudhry for the new PESS president.
In support of their suggestion, they said that anyone of them would represent cause of ex-servicemen and promote their welfare in a better way. The other participants raised no objection and the meeting resolved unanimously to approach and persuade these two air marshals for accepting their proposal.
It is learnt through reliable source that Lt General (R) Ali Quli Khan and General (R) Ehsan are rubbing muscles to contest election for president PESS. Meanwhile PESS executive body is preparing for holding PESS National Council meeting in Rawalpindi to decide election schedule.
